It's been ages since I've been down to the Liberty Flyers Club field in Petaluma.  So, when I saw they were hosting an event, I decided to take a drive.  The event is their annual Canvas Falcon Scale Fly In.  The main theme of the event is WWI era airplanes.  It's a scale event, where planes are judged for a scale build and pilots are judged in how they fly them.

As I drove up the long driveway to the field, I noticed a large amount of cars at trucks along side the runway.  As I parked, I noticed a great turnout of spectators ...  But, a quick walk through the pits had me wondering "where were the airplanes?".  Turns out, pilots like a late start.  Planes were slowly unloaded and set up and by 10 o'clock things started getting rolling.  Having to be at work by 10:30 meant I only got to see one plane fly!

Even though the models entered in the show was light. there were some gorgeous airplanes to look over in the pits.  The craftsmanship on a few had to be seen to be believed.  I hope my photos convey the hard work and love some of these guys poured into their airplanes.  The large scale of some of them was really nice and leant well to the amount of fine detail.

It was great to see so many people out supporting an rc flying event, hopefully next year safety will be a little better thought out and hopefully a few more airplanes will turnout.  I'm sure the high gas prices kept many from making the trip ...  Overall, it looked to be a successful event for the Liberty Club.  Congrats!
