This being my 2nd official Float Fly, I came (semi) prepared to enjoy the morning with the Wine Country Flyers Club.  I had my son Nathan, Check.  Food, Check.  Pop-up tent, drinks, camera, R/C plane and support, check, check check, check ...  We even brought jackets for the chilly morning.

As is my norm, we arrived early to find only a few people there.  We quickly set-up the tent and got Nathan situated, then snacked and waited for the sun to come out and wind to die off.  I had a brand new plane to maiden, and was in no rush.

Pilots started showing up, we said hello's and enjoyed the camaraderie that WCF events are known for.  There were many interesting and beautiful planes in attendance.  We watched Andy and Erik fly their Micro Carbon Cubs, they fly great with the floats installed!  Red Jensen wowed the crowd with his Fun Cub.  The Walter's had a pair of WWI biplanes on floats.  Adam had a flying boat.  There were many Parkzone Icon A5's in attendance.  There was a host of other interesting airplanes, see the photos.

As for myself, I brought out a Multiplex Mentor on floats.  I had spent a few days before the event assembling and painting the plane.  I think it turned out very nice.  One thing I ran out of time for, was a motor mount swap.  It nagged at me, but I thought I could get one day of use out of the plane with the stock plastic mount....  Wrong!  I got one super mellow flight in, with an electric plane that sounded like it had a four stroke engine on it!  Oh well, with a little work it will be ready for the next Float Fly!

The best part of there day, was hanging out at the lake with friends.  There's just something about being close to water that is very relaxing.  Flying R/C airplanes, spending time talking and joking around, it just doesn't get much better than that.  Thanks WCF Club!
