November 29th, 2009, NBRCC and Jake's Performance Hobbies teamed up to host a scaler event "Under the 101" in Santa Rosa. The idea behind the event was new, a long course scale Rubicon style run. The course(s) ended up with 18 gates and covered 120+ feet! The idea is a good one and with improvements it should be a very fun run.
The one major mistake, which I (Jake) apologize for, was the courses were too hard for the average scaler rig. I learned a lot about hosting a scaler comp and the next one that we host will be much better!
But, the awesome things was, everyone who attended (and it was a record turnout for a scaler event in Sonoma County) had a great time! Even if the courses were too hard, everyone enjoyed the day hanging out with other scaler enthusiasts. Thank you everyone!
There were some awesome looking rigs with a lot of time and ingenuity put into them. Take a close look at the pictures and you'll see, scaler guys do some cool things to their rigs!
Congrats to Don Jr. and Justin for finishing the course! Well done guys!
A big thanks to all those who attended the event. And a bigger thanks to those who helped out. I totally appreciate the have fun attitude that everyone had and I'm really looking forward to putting on another event with the NBRCC crew and making up for this one!
