As most of you know, Jake's Performance Hobbies has been into rock crawlers for ages. Bringing the first crawler comps to our area and being a strong supporter behind the scenes ever since. Lately, the crawler direction has shifted towards Scalers, very scale looking rock crawlers. It's a whole new world, were you fabbing your own parts and coming up with a unique "look" to your rig is what counts ... Sure, it has to crawl well, but if it's got custom bumpers, a working winch, and some well thought out scale accessories, then that's even better!
On June 9th, JPH hosted a Show-N-Shine for scale crawlers, Scalers on Display. We had 16 vehicles entered in a People's Choice Show, hoping to win a $25 Gift Card. The craftsmanship, ingenuity and thought that went into many of these trucks was awesome! In the end, there was a tie for 1st, between Rich Kinyon's '57 Chevy and Everrett Maggio's blue Chevy Blazer. Both were awarded a JPH Gift Card for their hard work!
The next day, June 10th, the was a Scaler Competition out at Flat Rock in Santa Rosa. While it was a small turnout, the courses were great and the camaraderie was excellent. Nathan (age 6) got a chance to drive his Wraith in his first Comp, and really enjoyed it. He even finished his first course! (Unfortunately, time constraints and the heat forced us to leave early, but we'll be back at the next one!) A good time was had by all and everyone is looking forward to the next event!
